The Canadian Kings of Repertoire
The Story of the Marks Brothers by Michael V Taylor.
A chance meeting in the Eastern Ontario hamlet of Maberly, near Perth,Ontario, led the formation of the famous Marks Brothers travelling theatrical companies. From the humble beginning of the company in 1877 to the operation of as many as five troupes, the seven Lanark County farmboys entertained thousands of people across Canada and the United States, a strenuous shedule maintained until the 1930s. The Marks Brothers not only made theatre respectable family entertainment, but also left a legacy of early Canadian theatrical achievemments dating from the first days of theatres and opera halls.
